چکیده

Introduction: Oxidative stress is one of the inflammatory events caused by obesity. This condition characterized an increase in various markers, such as intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell (VCAM-1), and a cluster differentiation 40 (CD40). study aimed to analyze effect Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng ethanol extract on ICAM-1, VCAM-1, CD40 obese rats. Methods: The used pure experimental method with completely randomized design. There were 6 groups, namely, C− (negative control), C+ (positive CMC (soluble EE300 (P. extract, 300 mg/kg body weight [BW]), EE600 600 BW) EE900 groups 900 BW). Results: results showed low levels ICAM-1 VCAM-1 blood plasma, especially group, but difference was not substantial. same trend also occurred expression tunica intima layer rat aorta. Conclusions: Thus, administration BW P. for 45 days has potential treat obesity rats through suppression oxidative markers (ICAM-1, CD40).

In Vitro and In Vivo Leishmanicidal Activity of Astronium fraxinifolium (Schott) and Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng against Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis

The aim of the present work was to evaluate antileishmanial activity of Astronium fraxinifolium and Plectranthus amboinicus. For the in vitro tests, essential oil of P. amboinicus (OEPA) and ethanolic extracts from A. fraxinifolium (EEAF) were incubated with 10(6) promastigotes of L. (Viannia) braziliensis. The OEPA was able to reduce the parasite growth after 48 h; nonetheless, all the EEAFs c...
